Cognitive reserve and individual differences in brain tumor patients

Abstract The aim of the paper is to determine effects cognitive reserve on brain tumor patients’ functions and, specifically, if helps patients cope with negative tumors their functions. We retrospectively studied a large sample around 700 patients, diagnosed tumor. Each received an MRI examination, and performed battery tests measuring abilities before they underwent neurosurgery. To account for complexity reserve, we construct our proxy by combining three predictors performance, namely education, occupation, environment where live. Our statistical analysis controls type, side, site, size lesion, fluid intelligence quotient, age gender, in order tease out effect each these tests. Clinical neurological variables have expected find robust positive performance. Moreover, that modulates volume lesion: additional impact increase performance less severe higher reserve. also substantial differences depending cerebral hemisphere lesion occurred function considered. For several functions, stronger lesions left than whose are right hemisphere. development prevention strategies personalized rehabilitation interventions will benefit from contribution understanding role addition variables, as one factors determining individual caused tumors.
